How Do You Rotate Text in SolidWorks?
SolidWorks is a powerful computer-aided design (CAD) software that allows engineers and designers to create 3D models and assemblies. One of the frequently used features in SolidWorks is the ability to rotate text.
In this tutorial, we will walk you through the steps to rotate text in SolidWorks using different methods.
Method 1: Using the Rotate Command
Step 1: Open SolidWorks and create a new sketch on the desired face or plane where you want to add rotated text.
Step 2: Select the “Text” tool from the Sketch toolbar or go to Tools > Sketch Entities > Text.
Step 3: Click on the sketch area and enter the desired text in the text box that appears. You can also choose the font, size, and style of the text from the options provided.
Step 4: After entering the text, click on “OK” to create the text entity.
Step 5: Select the “Rotate” command from either Edit > Rotate.., or by right-clicking on the text entity and choosing “Rotate Entity”.
Step 6: Choose a rotation point by clicking on any point within or outside of the text entity.
Step 7: Specify an angle of rotation by entering a value in degrees or use your mouse to rotate it visually.
Note: You can also specify other options such as axis of rotation and direction of rotation from the options provided.
Step 8: Click on “OK” to apply the rotation to the text entity.
Method 2: Using a Sketch Transformation
Step 1: Follow steps 1 to 4 from Method 1 to create the text entity.
Step 2: Select the text entity and click on the “Transform Sketch” command from either Edit > Transform > Rotate., or by right-clicking on the text entity and choosing “Transform Sketch”.
Step 3: Choose a rotation point by clicking on any point within or outside of the text entity, similar to Step 6 in Method 1.
Step 4: Specify an angle of rotation, axis of rotation, and direction of rotation from the options provided.
Note: You can also use reference geometry or other entities as references for your transformation.
Step 5: Click on “OK” to apply the rotation to the text entity.
Tips and Tricks:
- Bold Text: Use your bold text here.
- Mix Styles:To combine styles like underline, italic, and bold, you can use nested styling elements like your mixed style here.
- Subheaders: Use

your subheader here

to create subheaders for different sections of the tutorial.
Now that you know how to rotate text in SolidWorks using different methods, you can add a new dimension to your designs. Experiment with different angles and styles to create visually appealing models.
Remember to save your work regularly and keep exploring the vast capabilities of SolidWorks!
