Step 1: Open Both Projects
To begin, open both the project with the component you want to copy and the project where you want to paste it. You can have multiple instances of SketchUp open at once or use tabs within the software.
Step 2: Select the Component
Select the component you wish to copy in the source project. You can do this by using either the Select Tool or by simply clicking on the component in your workspace.
Note:
If your component is nested within other groups or components, make sure to explode them until you reach the desired component.
Step 3: Copy the Component
Right-click on the selected component and choose Copy. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+C (Windows) or Cmd+C (Mac) to copy it.
Step 4: Paste in Destination Project
Navigate to your destination project where you want to paste the copied component. Make sure that your desired insertion point is correctly positioned within this project.
Note:
If necessary, use tools such as Pan, Zoom, or Orbit to adjust your view and accurately position the insertion point.
Step 5: Paste the Component
Right-click on an empty space within your destination project and choose Paste. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+V (Windows) or Cmd+V (Mac) to paste the component.
Note:
The component will be pasted at its original location in the destination project. If you need to move or reposition it, use SketchUp’s transformation tools such as Move, Rotate, or Scale.
