How Do I Add a Domain to Webflow Namecheap?

Adding a domain to Webflow Namecheap is a simple process that allows you to connect your domain with your Webflow site. By following a few steps, you can seamlessly integrate your domain and ensure a smooth browsing experience for your visitors.

Step 1: Accessing Your Webflow Account

To begin, log in to your Webflow account. If you don’t have an account yet, sign up for one and create a new project or open an existing project.

Step 2: Navigating to the Project Settings

Once you’re in your Webflow dashboard, select the desired project and click on the “Project Settings” option from the left-hand side menu.

Step 3: Adding Your Domain

In the Project Settings page, navigate to the “Hosting” tab. Here, you’ll find an option labeled “Add Custom Domain.” Click on it to proceed.

Substep 3.1: Enter Your Domain

A modal window will appear where you can enter your custom domain name. Type in your domain name without any prefixes like “www” or “http://”. For example, if your domain is “example.com”, simply enter “example.com”.2: Verify Ownership of Your Domain

After entering your domain, click on the “Verify” button. This will initiate the verification process to confirm that you own the domain.

Note:

The verification process may vary depending on your DNS provider.

  • If using Namecheap as your DNS provider (which we’ll assume in this tutorial), follow these steps:
    1. Login to your Namecheap account.
    2. Click on “Domain List” from the left-hand side menu.
    3. Locate your desired domain and click on the “Manage” button next to it.
    4. In the “Domain” section, find the “Advanced DNS” tab and click on it.
    5. Add a new DNS record with the following details:
      • Type: Choose “CNAME Record”.
      • Host: Enter “www” if you want to use the www prefix (e.g., www.example.com). Otherwise, leave it blank for a root domain (e., example.
      • Value: Copy the verification value provided by Webflow and paste it here.
      • TTL: Set it to automatic or choose a suitable value according to your preference.
      • Save your changes.

Step 4: Completing Domain Setup in Webflow

After setting up the DNS record, switch back to Webflow and click on the “Verify” button. Webflow will now attempt to verify ownership of your domain by checking for the DNS record you just added. If successful, you’ll see a green checkmark indicating that verification is complete.

    Note:

The verification process may take some time due to DNS propagation. It can take anywhere from a few minutes up to 48 hours for changes to take effect globally. Be patient!

Step 5: Setting Your Default Domain

Once verification is complete, you can set your custom domain as the default domain for your Webflow project. This ensures that visitors will see your website when they enter your domain name in their browsers.

To set your custom domain as the default, go back to the “Project Settings” page in Webflow and click on the “Hosting” tab. Under the “Custom Domains” section, click on the three dots next to your custom domain and select “Set as Default”.

    Step 6: Celebrate!

Congratulations! You’ve successfully added a domain to Webflow Namecheap. Now, when visitors enter your domain in their browsers, they will be directed to your Webflow site seamlessly.

Remember, if you ever want to remove or make changes to your custom domain settings, you can always return to the “Project Settings” page and manage them accordingly.
