Step 1: Accessing the Tools Menu
To begin, open SolidWorks and navigate to the top menu. Locate the Tools option and click on it. A dropdown menu will appear with various options.
Step 2: Selecting Customize
In the Tools dropdown menu, find and select the Customize option. This will open a new window with customization settings.
Step 3: Modifying Toolbars
In the customization window, switch to the Toolbars tab. Here, you can see a list of available toolbars that can be modified.
Note:
If you have an existing toolbar set up for your workflow, it is recommended to create a new toolbar for experimenting with different selection tools. This way, you can switch back and forth between your customized toolbar and default settings easily.
Step 4: Adding Selection Tools
In the Toolbars tab, you will find a list of toolbars on the left-hand side. Scroll down until you find the Select/Modify.. toolbar. Click on it to highlight it.
Note:
The Select/Modify. toolbar contains all the available selection tools in SolidWorks. By default, it includes tools like Select”, “Select by Box”, “Select by Lasso”, “Select through Graphics”, and more.
To add a selection tool to your customized toolbar, click on the Add Command button located in the center of the window. A new window will appear with a list of available commands.
Step 5: Choosing a Selection Tool
In the Commands window, navigate to the left-hand side and expand the Select/Modify. option. This will display all the available selection tools.
Browse through the list and select the tool you want to add to your customized toolbar. Once selected, click on the Add button at the bottom-right corner of the window.
Note:
You can repeat this step multiple times to add different selection tools to your customized toolbar. This allows you to have quick access to all your preferred selection options in one place.
Step 6: Rearranging and Customizing Your Toolbar
Once you have added all desired selection tools, you can rearrange their order in your customized toolbar. To do this, simply click and drag a tool up or down within the toolbar list.
If you prefer a more visually engaging toolbar, you can also customize its appearance. Right-click on any blank area within your customized toolbar and select Customize.. This will open another window where you can adjust various display settings like icon size, text display, and more.
Step 7: Saving Your Customization
After arranging and customizing your new toolbar, it’s important to save your changes for future use. Click on the Save As. button located at the bottom-left corner of the customization window.
Give your customized toolbar a unique name and click Save. This will create a new toolbar that you can easily switch to whenever you want to use a different selection tool.
