How Do I Connect My Domain to Google Webflow?

So, you’ve built a stunning website on Webflow and now you want to connect your domain to Google. Don’t worry, the process is actually quite straightforward. In this tutorial, we’ll guide you through the steps to connect your domain to Google Webflow.

Step 1: Sign in to your Google account

If you don’t have a Google account, create one before proceeding. Once you’re signed in, head over to the Google Domains homepage.

Step 2: Access your DNS settings

Once you’re on the Google Domains homepage, click on the “My domains” button. Find and select the domain you want to connect to Webflow.

Note: If you haven’t registered a domain yet, this step won’t apply. You can either register a new domain or transfer an existing one to Google Domains.

Step 3: Open DNS configuration

On the “Domain Details” page, locate and click on the “DNS” tab. This is where we’ll make changes to connect your domain with Webflow.

Step 4: Add CNAME records

CNAME (Canonical Name) records are used to map your domain/subdomain to another domain/subdomain. We’ll add two CNAME records here:

  • In the first CNAME record field, enter www.
  • In the second CNAME record field, enter yoursitename.webflow.io.

To add a CNAME record:

  • Select “CNAME” from the dropdown menu.
  • In the “Name” field, enter www.
  • In the “Data” field, enter yoursitename.
  • Save the changes.

Step 5: Add A records

A records (Address records) are used to map your domain/subdomain to an IP address. We’ll add one A record here:

To add an A record:

  • Select “A” from the dropdown menu.
  • In the “Name” field, leave it empty or enter “@”.
  • In the “IPv4 address” field, enter Webflow’s IP address: 34.193.69.252.

Step 6: Verify your domain on Webflow

Head over to your Webflow dashboard and click on the project you want to connect with your domain. In your project settings, go to the “Hosting” tab and click on “Add custom domain”.

Enter your domain name (e.g., www.yourdomain.com) and click on “Verify”. Webflow will then verify if all DNS changes are correctly configured.

Step 7: Enable SSL/TLS encryption (optional)

If you want to secure your website with HTTPS, you can enable SSL/TLS encryption in your Webflow project settings. Go to the “Hosting” tab, scroll down to “SSL/TLS”, and switch it on. Webflow will automatically provision an SSL certificate for your domain.

Congratulations! You’ve successfully connected your domain to Google Webflow.

The changes may take a while to propagate, so don’t worry if your website isn’t immediately visible on your domain. In the meantime, you can start customizing and publishing your website on Webflow.

Happy web designing!
