Creating a Custom Paper Size in AutoCAD
In AutoCAD, you might find yourself in situations where the default paper sizes just don’t cut it. Whether you’re working on a unique project or need to conform to specific printing requirements, creating a custom paper size can be the solution. In this tutorial, we will guide you through the steps of creating a custom paper size in AutoCAD.
Step 1: Accessing the Plotter Manager
To begin, open your drawing in AutoCAD and navigate to the “File” menu. From there, select the “Plotter Manager” option. This will open the Plotter Manager dialogue box.
Step 2: Adding a Custom Plotter
In the Plotter Manager dialogue box, click on the “Add-A-Plotter Wizard” button. This will launch the wizard that will guide you through adding a new plotter.
- Click “Next” to proceed.
- Select “My Computer” as the plotter model and click “Next”.
- On the next screen, choose “New Plotter Configuration” and click “Next”.
- In the following screen, select your printer manufacturer and model from the list. If your printer is not listed, choose a similar model or use a generic driver.
- Click “Next” until you reach the screen titled “Import PCP or PC2 File”. Here, select “No, I Will Create A New Configuration”, and click “Next”.
- Proceed by clicking on “Finish”.
Step 3: Configuring Paper Size Settings
After adding your custom plotter, return to the Plotter Manager dialogue box. Select your newly created plotter from the list and click on the “Properties” button.
Step 4: Modifying Paper Size
In the Plotter Configuration Editor dialogue box, navigate to the “Device and Document Settings” tab. Here, you can modify various settings related to paper size and orientation.
- Under the “Paper Size” section, click on the drop-down menu and select “Custom Size”.
- Next, click on the “Modify Standard Paper Sizes” button.
- In the subsequent dialogue box, click on “Add” to create a new custom paper size.
- Provide a name for your custom paper size and specify its width and height.
- Click “OK” to save your changes and exit the dialogue box.
Step 5: Applying Custom Paper Size
Back in the Plotter Configuration Editor dialogue box, select your custom paper size from the drop-down menu under the “Paper Size” section.
Step 6: Saving Changes
Once you have configured your custom paper size settings, click on the “Apply To Layout” button. This will apply your changes to all layouts within your drawing. Finally, click on “OK” to save your modifications and close the dialogue box.
That’s it! You have successfully created a custom paper size in AutoCAD. Now you can freely use this custom paper size for plotting or printing your drawings according to your specific requirements.
Note:
Remember that these changes are specific to each plotter that you create in AutoCAD. If you want to use this custom paper size in another drawing or project, make sure to follow these steps again for that plotter.
