In this tutorial, we will learn how to delete a material in VRAY SketchUp.
Step 1: Open the Material Editor
To delete a material, we first need to open the Material Editor in VRAY SketchUp. To do this, go to the V-Ray toolbar and click on the “Material Editor” button. Alternatively, you can use the shortcut key “M” on your keyboard.
Step 2: Select the Material
Once the Material Editor is open, you will see a list of all the materials present in your scene. To delete a specific material, simply click on it to select it.

If you are unsure which material you want to delete, you can preview them one by one by clicking on each material name in the list. This way, you can visually identify the material before proceeding with its deletion.
Step 3: Delete the Material
After selecting the material you want to delete, locate the “Delete” button at the top of the Material Editor interface. It is represented by a small trash bin icon. Click on this button to remove the selected material from your project.

Deleting a material is irreversible, so make sure that you have selected the correct one before proceeding with its deletion. Additionally, deleting a material from your project will also remove it from any objects or surfaces it was applied to.
Step 4: Confirm Deletion
Upon clicking on the “Delete” button, VRAY SketchUp will prompt you with a confirmation message asking if you are sure about deleting the selected material. Make sure to review your selection once again and click on “Yes” to confirm the deletion.
Step 5: Material Deleted
After confirming the deletion, VRAY SketchUp will remove the material from your project. You will no longer find it in the Material Editor or applied to any objects or surfaces in your scene.
Tip:
If you accidentally deleted a material and want to retrieve it, make sure that you have a backup of your project file. You can then try using the “Undo” function (Ctrl+Z) immediately after deleting the material to revert the changes.
