How Do I Delete All Textures in SketchUp?

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you wanted to start fresh with your SketchUp project and delete all the textures? Maybe you imported a model with textures that don’t quite fit your design, or perhaps you simply want to remove all the textures and start from scratch. Whatever the reason may be, I’m here to guide you through the process of deleting all textures in SketchUp.

Step 1: Select All Faces

To begin, you’ll need to select all the faces in your SketchUp model. This will ensure that no texture is left behind.

  1. Click on the Select tool in the toolbar or press the Spacebar key on your keyboard to activate it.
  2. Click and drag your cursor over the entire model, making sure that all faces are selected. You can also use the Select All command by pressing Ctrl+A (Windows) or Command+A (Mac).

Step 2: Open Materials Window

The next step is to open the Materials window in SketchUp. This window allows you to manage and apply textures to your model.

  1. Navigate to the Window menu at the top of SketchUp.
  2. Select Materials. This will open the Materials window.

Step 3: Delete Textures from In-Use List

In this step, we’ll delete all textures from the “In-Use” list, which contains all the textures currently applied to your model.

  1. Click on the In-Use tab in the Materials window. This will display all the textures in use.
  2. Select the first texture in the list by clicking on it.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of the list while holding down the Shift key.
  4. Click on the last texture in the list while still holding down the Shift key.

This will select all textures in between.

  5. Right-click on any of the selected textures and choose Delete Texture. Alternatively, you can press the Delete key.
  6. Confirm that you want to delete the selected textures by clicking on Delete.

Step 4: Clear Unsaved Textures from In-Model List

In this final step, we’ll clear any unsaved textures from the “In-Model” list, which includes textures that are not yet applied but have been imported or created within your model.

  1. Select the In-Model tab in the Materials window. This will show all unsaved textures.
    • If there are no unsaved textures:
    • – Congratulations!

You have successfully deleted all textures in SketchUp.

If there are unsaved textures:

  1. Select the first unsaved texture in the list by clicking on it.
  2. Click on the last unsaved texture in the list while still holding down the Shift key. This will select all textures in between.
