Have you ever wished that your AutoCAD software would automatically open when you start your computer? Opening AutoCAD manually every time can be a hassle, especially if you use the software frequently. Luckily, there is a simple way to configure AutoCAD to open on startup, saving you time and effort.
Step 1: Accessing the Startup Folder
To get started, you need to locate the Startup folder on your computer. The Startup folder contains a list of applications that are set to launch automatically when your computer starts up. Follow these steps:
- Click on the Start button located in the bottom left corner of your screen.
- Type “Run” in the search bar and hit Enter. This will open the Run dialog box.
- Type “shell:startup” in the Run dialog box and click OK.
The Startup folder will now open, displaying a list of applications that currently launch at startup. This is where we will add AutoCAD to ensure it opens automatically.
Step 2: Creating a Shortcut
In this step, we will create a shortcut for AutoCAD and place it in the Startup folder. Follow these instructions:
- Locate your AutoCAD desktop shortcut. If you don’t have one, create a new shortcut by right-clicking on your desktop and selecting New > Shortcut.
- Right-click on the AutoCAD shortcut, then select Copy from the context menu that appears.
- Navigate to the Startup folder. You can do this by going back to the window displaying your Startup folder or by following Step 1 again.
- Right-click inside the Startup folder, then select Paste Shortcut from the context menu. This will create a shortcut to AutoCAD in the Startup folder.
That’s it! AutoCAD is now set to open automatically when you start your computer. The next time you restart your computer, AutoCAD will launch without any manual intervention.
Note:
If you ever decide that you no longer want AutoCAD to open on startup, simply navigate back to the Startup folder and delete the AutoCAD shortcut. This will remove it from the list of applications that launch automatically when your computer starts up.
Now you can enjoy the convenience of having AutoCAD open on startup, saving you time and making your workflow more efficient. No more searching for the software in your applications or desktop – it will be ready and waiting for you as soon as your computer boots up!
