Step 1: Open the Styles Window
To begin, open SketchUp and navigate to the “Window” menu at the top. From there, select “Styles” to open the Styles window.
Step 2: Edit the Default Style
Once you have the Styles window open, locate the “In Model” tab. This tab contains all the styles that are currently applied to your model. Look for the style with a checkmark next to it – this is your default style.
Note: If you don’t see any styles in the “In Model” tab, you can create a new style by clicking on the “+” button at the bottom left corner of the Styles window.
Step 3: Customize Background Settings
Select the default style by clicking on it once. This will bring up a list of options that you can customize for that particular style. Look for an option called “Background Settings” or something similar – this is where we will make our changes.
Note: If you can’t find this option, try expanding any collapsible sections in the style options until you locate it.
Step 4: Remove Sky Background
In the Background Settings section, there should be an option to choose a background type. By default, SketchUp uses a sky background.
To remove it, simply select a different background type from the available options.
Pro Tip: If you want a completely transparent background, choose the “Image” option and then click on the folder icon to browse for an image. Select a transparent image (such as a PNG with transparency) to achieve the desired effect.
Step 5: Apply the Changes
Once you have made all the necessary adjustments to the background settings, click on the “Update” or “Apply” button to save your changes.
