How Do I Save a Style in Figma?

Figma is a powerful online, collaborative design platform that allows teams to create and manage their designs in real-time. Figma’s Style feature is an incredibly useful tool for teams to quickly apply a consistent look and feel to their designs. It enables users to define and save a set of values like fonts, text sizes, colors, spacings, etc., which they can then use throughout their projects. But how do you save a style in Figma?

The first step is to create all the elements you want the style to be applied to – for example text elements, shapes, lines, icons, etc., and make sure they have the desired look. Once you have created all the elements of your style, select them all and go to ‘Style’ on the right side toolbar.

Here you will see options like font size, font family, line height, fill color etc. Adjust these values as per your needs and click on ‘Create Style’ button at the bottom.

Now you will be presented with several options – you can choose to save the style as a Global or Local style. Selecting ‘Global’ will make this style available across all projects in your team workspace while selecting ‘Local’ will only make it available within that particular project. You can also assign a name and description for your style if you wish.

Once you have saved your style it will appear under ‘Styles’ tab on the right side toolbar from where it can be applied onto any element within that project or workspace (depending upon whether it was saved as Global or Local).

Conclusion:

Saving a style in Figma is straightforward process – simply create all the elements that need to be included in your style and adjust their properties according to your needs. Then select them all and go to ‘Style’ tab on right side toolbar where you can choose whether to save it as Global or Local before giving it a name and description if desired. This way you can easily create consistent looks throughout your design projects with just few clicks.
