How Do I Save Material ID in Sketchup VRay?

In this tutorial, we will learn how to save Material ID in Sketchup VRay. Material ID is a unique identifier assigned to each material in your Sketchup model. It helps you organize and apply different materials to specific parts of your model during the rendering process.

Step 1: Applying Materials

Before we can save Material ID, we need to ensure that materials are properly applied to our model in Sketchup VRay.

  1. Select the object or face you want to assign a material to.

  2. Right-click on the selected area and choose “Assign Material by Name”.

  3. In the VRay Materials Editor, choose or create the desired material and apply it.

Step 2: Enabling Material ID

To enable Material ID, follow these steps:

  1. Open the VRay Asset Editor by clicking on the VRay icon in the toolbar.

  2. Navigate to the “Render Elements” tab.

  3. Create a new render element by clicking on the “+” button at the bottom of the panel.
