How Do You Edit a Path in Figma?

Editing a path in Figma is an essential part of creating graphics, whether it be for a website, logo, or other visual project. The first step in the process is to select the path you want to edit by clicking on it. Once selected, several editing tools will appear on the right-hand side of the screen.

The Edit Tool:

The edit tool allows you to make adjustments to existing anchor points, as well as add and delete anchor points. To adjust an existing anchor point, simply click and drag it around. To add an anchor point along a path, just double-click anywhere along that path and a new anchor point will be added.

To delete an anchor point, simply select the anchor point and press delete on your keyboard.

The Pen Tool:

The pen tool is great for drawing custom paths from scratch or adjusting existing paths in more detail than what’s available with the edit tool. To draw a custom path using the pen tool, click and drag your mouse over the canvas to create your desired shape. You can also adjust existing paths using this tool by clicking and dragging any of its existing nodes or points to create a different shape or adjust its curve.

The Node Tool:

The node tool allows you to make even more detailed edits to your paths than what’s available with either the edit or pen tools. This is because with this tool you can adjust the curvature of each individual node or handle. To do so simply select a node and then click and drag one of its handles around until you’ve achieved your desired effect.

Conclusion:

Editing a path in Figma is quite simple once you understand how each of its various tools works together. The edit tool allows you to make basic adjustments like adding/deleting nodes or adjusting their position while the pen/node tools allow for more detailed adjustments like adjusting curvature and drawing custom shapes.
