Who Funded Canva?

Canva is a graphic design platform, used by millions around the world to create stunning designs. It was founded in 2012 by Melanie Perkins, Cliff Obrecht, and Cameron Adams in Sydney, Australia. They wanted to make graphic design simple and accessible for everyone.

Canva is available as a free web-based app as well as an iOS and Android mobile app. It has a library of more than one million stock photos, illustrations, icons and fonts that users can choose from to create designs. Plus, it provides the tools to resize photos or add filters.

Canva has grown exponentially since its launch in 2012. It now has over 20 million users worldwide who use the platform for various purposes such as creating presentations, flyers, posters, logos and much more. The company also offers Canva Pro which is a subscription-based version of its software with additional features.

Canva was initially funded by angel investors from Sydney’s entrepreneurial community including Mike Cannon-Brookes and Scott Farquhar from Atlassian. In 2014, it raised $3 million in Series A funding from Blackbird Ventures.

In 2015 Canva raised $15 million in Series B funding from Sequoia Capital Australia and Matrix Partners. This round of funding was led by former Google executive turned venture capitalist Bill Maris of Google Ventures.
